It’s the most wonderful time of the year again, to get that summer and vacation body for 2016. now that we are past the holidays and many parties and get-togethers, which only mean non-stop access to the most scrumptious of food and drink. Desserts come a plenty and with less time for everything else, several diets and more tummies shall be popping as the summer of 2016 rolls around, so let’s get to work.
Your gym and diet resolutions need not be delayed any longer. Today, there are ways to maintain your weight and waistline.
- Think nutrition, not diet.
The thing about dieting is that it conjures negative thoughts of being miserable with tasteless food. Instead, think of nutrition and nourishing your body. Have the roast beef, the mashed potatoes, and the vegetables, at least have a balanced diet. You will soon find out that you feel better afterwards without having to wallow in food coma. More so, having this mindset is more sustainable.
2. Be smart at the summer parties.
When it comes to parties, strategizing ahead helps. In fact, there are ways to make these food-filled events work for you:
- Mingle. Parties are not just for eating. It’s all about catching up, getting to know people, and yes, networking! Going around the room takes you away from the buffet and the BBQ and helps you burn some calories.
- Always have a drink on hand. Having a drink on hand will prevent you from overindulging on food. You will only be reaching out for finger food and small items.
- Eat before going. Like grocery shopping, do not go to parties hungry. You will only end up overindulging. Instead, have some complex carbs like sweet potato and quinoa. Have a serving of a fruit and keep yourself hydrated with water.
- 1: 1 ratio. To flush out the alcohol, follow the 1:1 rule, which is: for every glass of alcoholic beverage you drink, have a glass of water. If you can, choose wine over beer. Beer, even the light versions, can give anyone a gut.
- Have a routine set
To win the battle, one must plan accordingly. To do so, have a routine in place. Work with a trainer who can devise a great exercise routine, which you can do in the office or at home. Having this removes the chance for delaying exercise and ensuring that you achieve your goals.
Working with a trainer can provide structure to your day, and add discipline to your everyday schedule that gives you important tools to use, and even have you work with a nutritionist to plan your meals. Having a trainer is an investment that you won’t regret. Remember, the more muscle you have, the more fats you burn.
