Tips to Create the Perfect Wedding Reception

Tips to Create the Perfect Wedding Reception

After the sweet I do’s, it’s time to party! And the best way to create the most amazing wedding reception is by nailing two things: the venue and the caterer. What’s a party with bland food and drinks or an event that’s happening in a completely bad place? Well, it’s definitely not much and not the best way to start off a marriage.

If the big day is rolling in a few months from now and you still have no clue as to how to go about choosing the correct venue and catering company, here are some tips to keep in mind:
  • Decide on the date.
Your wedding is sooner than you think and the earlier you decide on the exact date, the better. The thing about having the best venue and catering service is that all other couples also want them, so make decide on the date first and work backwards on what you need to accomplish.

As for venues, the date is really the most critical. Top hotels’ good ballrooms can get pretty booked immediately as you are not just competing against engaged couples, but also other hosts of other events such as corporate parties, debuts, and anniversaries. Reserving at least eight to nine months ahead is important if you are targeting a specific venue. For those who prefer to be outdoors such as the beach, all the more that the date plays a role as you would never want a rain-drenched wedding unless it’s the after party and people are too sloshed to care.
  • How much can you afford?
Everyone wants the wedding of their dreams but let’s face it: the budget plays a big role. A good caterer can work with every budget. Good food need not be limiting just because you do not have the budget of royalty.

In fact, some venues already have in-house catering services, which can help a lot in ensuring the budget stays within the bounds.
  • Taste the food.
No matter the amount of money you are parting with when it comes to your caterer, always insist on having a taste test. If possible, bring the kind of menu you want from appetizers to dessert to make the choosing and deciding happen much faster and clearer with your caterer. Do not feel the pressure to impress or be agreeable because you have the right to say no if it does not taste right.
  • Have a guest list.
The one thing that makes a venue perfect is if in fact, all the guests fit in it. A good estimation prevents people from cramming in one table or being afraid to move their seats because they will surely bump or inconvenience another person and likewise, it’s economical to rent a big venue for such a small list of people.
